James Blake launches new platform Vault as ‘solution’ to streaming

8 April 2024

James Blake has launched a new platform called Vault, aiming to address the challenges of the streaming era. The singer and producer recently expressed his frustration with the devaluation of music on social media.

In response to this, Blake introduced Vault, a subscription-based platform. He shared three unreleased tracks from his archives on Vault, including ‘We Culture Ref1’, ‘The Man Who Talks Too Much’, and ‘Olivia Kept’.

Blake highlighted the financial difficulties faced by artists, citing low payouts from streaming services like Spotify and TikTok. He emphasized the need for musicians to earn directly from their music to sustain their careers.

Vault seeks to incentivize musicians to produce more music and supports the release of great music that may not meet mainstream requirements or trends. To learn more, watch Blake discuss Vault on Twitter/X here.
