BRIT Awards move to Manchester for 2026 and 2027
9 June 2025
Since the inaugural BRIT Awards in 1977, the iconic music event has taken place in London every year.
However, Manchester’s Co-op Live arena has just signed a deal to host The BRITS ceremonies in both 2026 and 2027.
Manchester’s musical legacy includes The Smiths, Harry Styles, The Stone Roses, Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, Take That, The 1975, Aitch, Blossoms and Courteeners, giving the city an ironclad claim to stage the awards.
With the next Mercury Prize ceremony taking place in Newcastle this Autumn, the relocation of the BRITs to the north-west bolsters a potential industry trend. Could this be the beginning of the decentralisation of the music industry from England’s capital?
