Bandcamp Friday Generates $3.5 million for independent artists in 24 hours

Bandcamp’s most recent Bandcamp Friday generated more than $3.5 million for independent artists in just 24 hours. The 1 August event was the third of its kind this year. Its predecessor on 2 May generated $3.2 million, demonstrating consistent growth.

Bandcamp Friday celebrates its 5th anniversary this year, having launched during the pandemic to provide extra income for independent acts. On these selected Fridays, the online music marketplace and community waives its share of revenue, so all artist and label proceeds from music and merch sales go directly to them.
